Intro
This project brings together two recent video pieces:
a dynamic event recap from the PASMA Conference in Los Angeles, and a short Ladder Inspection recap highlighting how our team handles quick, on-site safety checks.
Each video required a distinct visual language, but both relied on fast shooting, clean editing, and purposeful storytelling.
Challenge
Both videos had different goals:
- The PASMA Conference needed an energetic, engaging recap that captured speakers, crowd interactions, and the overall atmosphere of the event.
- The Ladder Inspection recap needed to quickly show the process in action — no explanations, no narration, just a straightforward visual summary of how the team performs inspections on-site.
The main challenge was maintaining cohesion and craft while shifting between a high-energy event style and a simple, process-focused recap.
My Role
- On-site shooting
- Shot list planning and visual approach
- Editing, pacing, and sequencing
- Color and sound cleanup
- Text overlays when needed
- Delivering versions suitable for social, web, and internal use
Process
1. Defining the Intent
- Capture the human energy and environment of the conference
- Present a quick, clean visual summary of the ladder inspection workflow
2. Shooting
PLASMA: Interviews, stage moments, b-roll, audience reactions, networking flow.
Ladder Recap: Close-ups, wide framing, key steps, and natural action without staged instruction.
3. Editing
PLASMA: Fast cuts, rhythmic pacing, color work to match the event’s tone.
Ladder Recap: Slow, steady cuts focused on showing the workflow clearly without over-editing.
4. Final Delivery
Versions optimized for social channels and web embedding, each with a distinct tone based on context.
The Outcome
PASMA Conference
- High-energy event storytelling
- Modern, clean color grading
- Quick interview snippets + atmosphere shots
- Social-ready short format
Ladder Inspection Recap
- Straightforward, real-workflow footage
- Process-focused visual summary
- No narration or step breakdown — pure recap
- Clean framing to show movement and technique
Reflection
These projects showcased two sides of my video work: the fast, energetic storytelling of a live event and the straightforward, observational style needed for operational recaps.
Both required different shooting decisions, editing rhythms, and visual tones — but each reinforced the importance of adapting the camera and edit to the context.
Working on these pieces helped refine my agility as a shooter and editor, balancing atmosphere, process, and intention while delivering videos that feel natural, polished, and purposeful.
